Planning appeal allowed – High Street Sunninghill

A pleasing result for Andy Miles of ADL, who worked closely with Chris Maltby of Edgeplan Limited on the planning appeal for the extension of existing A1 retail unit at 68 High Street, Sunninghill on behalf of Northhold Group .

Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead refused the application due to parking shortfall which will (in their view) lead to traffic congestion and highway safety issues.

ADL prepared an initial highways statement, and subsequent rebuttal to the Council’s statement, which allowed the Inspector to allow the appeal, and conclude that parking pressures “cannot necessarily be equated to material harm to highway safety of a magnitude that would warrant withholding permission” and that no evidence was presented “as to how moderate increase in future customers and staff … would lead to any harm to highway safety or any unacceptable levels of congestion.”
